The History Of Puzzle Game

The first puzzle seems to appear at XVIII century when an inventor John Spillsberry stuck the geography map on wood desk and then cut it into many pieces of ungeometrical form. He did it for learning purposes: to help his pupils to study geography. The idea was welcomed and later was used not only in studying but as a game for aristocracy. Nowadays puzzle game represented in two kinds: as flat puzzle and 3D puzzle. When making flat puzzle you see in the end a flat picture (it can be of different forms: square, round and so on). 3D puzzle game is resulted in three dimensional objects. The flat image consisting of many small spare parts (collage) was used by Pablo Picasso in 1912. In 1909 the American Parker created the method how to connect puzzle details and built a factory, producing puzzles. It was very popular in 1930, the manufacturers learned the way of cheap production that made puzzle an affordable game for all. There were contests of making puzzles in America: who will be the first, fasted in making the picture of thousand details.

Puzzle is a very useful tool in learning languages where pupils letter by letter compose the words, it also very good for visual memory. Giant puzzle games nowadays have a great variety depending on the material it’s made of: cartonnage, plastic, the surface of puzzle can be covered with neon paint that shines in the darkness. Moreover puzzle varies depending on the age of a child: there are games for beginners, number puzzles, giant puzzles for adults. You may play it with your child on the floor like twister for example.
